You know when you just recover from a chest infection but THAT cough still lingers on, the one that lasts for weeks possibly? That dry, tickly cough that strikes out of nowhere but at the most in-convene time: in a crowded lift, as you're sneaking back into the bedroom after a night out with the boys, halfway through a set of deads. Wtf?
It's not even a productive cough, it's dry, its retching, it just makes you want to cough more and more. So its a self perpetuating cough which has no useful function. So how do you get rid of it?
I've tried these remedies with varying degrees of success:
- Manuka honey: soothes the throat but doesn't stop the cough
- Lemon: as above
- Robittussen Dry Cough Forte: stops the itch associated with the cough but not the big fuck you out of nowhere cough
- Fisherman's friend: Quite good at stopping cough but you got to take it incessantly non stop. It becomes a laxative once you go past 2 packs a day (yes, I know!)
- All other cough medication and throat lozenges: useless
Please share any success stories you've had in getting rid of this pesky cough.
