How effective are flys when laying flat on the floor?

I saw a guy on youtube doing some bench press and flys laying on the floor. This limits the range of motion a bit, are they still effective or is this a better way of doing them?

Just a different way of doing them. Guys do them so they can use a lot more weight even thought the ROM is restricted. You'll find they use these to bust through a plateau andreturn to 'normal' bench presses in time.

I personally don`t feel flies are effective.I can only feel any resistance at the top and bottom of the move.Cables work the pecs all the way through.
