I must agree, that having a baby as your profile pic (particularly one that you googled) is somewhat disturbing lol.
Adrian, you can pay GymDirect via credit card over the phone (thereby eliminating the use of the internet to purchase the equipment). This will not only get you a far superior product, but will save you money as well.
Buying an Avanti bench or similar, is a massive mistake. In fact, you'd be better off taking your $500 to the bank, having it converted into 5c pieces, putting those 5c pieces into some heshan bags, and throwing them around to get fit.
My first bench was an Avanti (which I bought whilst lifting weights was simply a fad for me), and cost me $500. The pin that held the leg curl in place bent from general use (never had more than 30kg on it), and the pins in the uprights bent as well... and I couldn't even bench 40kg then.
For what it's worth, take it or leave it.
Aaron.
I agree with austy. My old set up was all avanti - absolute rubbish.
Buy quality buy once.
Wow, really impressed with the forum so far, heaps quick replies and good advice (and the off topic is always amusing).
Yeah, i was thinking to myself it may just be a fad/new years thing. I have always enjoyed fitness though, so I would keep using it when the fad kicks in again. I'll try and stick to completing 8-12 week sessions at a time though.
I think I'll buy a cheapo one from Rebel Sport for a start, its my birthday in 2 months so if i keep dedicated I'll upgrade and buy a better one (will also be looking for a proper rack at that time) then and sell off the other. I'll buy from gymdirect if i keep motivated, happy to help out those that help out the site.
Thanks a heap fellas
