Oppinions of Crossfit

What if my goal is to pick up a hot fit athletic chick?

Oh wait, they charge a lot of money to join, so maybe not. :/

If you want to win at a PL comp then no, X-fit isn't for you.

But generally speaking, it produces extremely fit people with great physiques, and by changing it up so much it appeals to people who get sick of limiting their focus to about 7 different movements (Sq's, DL,s OHP, Bench, BORS, Chins, Dips) week after week.

I would think it a great way to get fit, before branching out to specialise in other sports, be it surfing, rockclimbing, football, whatever.

It's very expensive though and a bit too buzzy for me, but it definitely has its upside.

you know it doesn't cost anything to do? people saying oh they charge this that blah blah.. all you need for most of the workouts is a bb or a chinup bar - they can most of the time scale it down. I don't know about you but most of my programs I adapt it to my needs?

Haz hit the nail on the head, its alot better than soooo many of the other gimmicks out there.

Now like i said before this is posted in the wrong place, crossfit will not helpyou increase your 1rm, this is the powerlifting section of a bodybuilding forum.

If you want to get fitter , look better by shedding some b/f crossfit will work for you.

As for the price ..... ring your tyre place there give a big fu#@ed one for nothing, you allready have a barbell and weights and if you havent got a pull up bar (your doing something wrong)....

So many lifters/bodybuilders are too quick to find faults in anything there not doing, rather than looking to find something positive that could help them reach a goal .

Everything has a upside, shit i dont do tricep kick backs , but i reackon if i did 50 right now my tricep would ache tommorow .....Useless movement.

Everytime i come on here people are trying new things Routine/reps/load why is that?

Your muscles become used to the same routine/movements .

So maybe 4-6 weeks of doing crossfit ,boxing or any otherthing thats different might help you in the long term 1-2years.

or just go buy your own kettlebells. theres a place in canberra here that is crossfit affilitated runs out of his garage. has a good setup. thats $10 a visit or its like $70 a month to come to all there sessions

Apparently CrossFit approached my powerlifting & weightlifting club (based at a uni) and asked for it to be turned into a CF affiliate. The club officials turned it down as CrossFit asked for ~$300K a year or something ridiculous.

OK let's play. I do powerlifting. How can CrossFit help me reach my goals in my chosen sport?

It will help by training you across broad modal and time domains to increase your potential for maximal work!

Translated: by doing lots of stuff you will get better at doing lots of stuff...

But Dancealot, as you have a specific goal and that is against xfit principles so stfu and gtfo!

:p [Sarcasm off]

Dancelot, you've taken what ive said out of context, like i said in the original post crossfit probably wouldnt affect your 1rm!!!

Wot i ment was it has benifit, and in my experiance/opinion the benifits from crossfit are better than most other fads at the moment.

My point being people rubbish ideas because there different to ones there following, sometimes its worth trying.

Also I believe crossfit is one of the best ways off strengthing your core , now im not saying you dont dancelot, but alot of lifters neglect there core, improve your core and lift more.....

If one has a specific goal, then they wont be able to 'Crossfit' their way to it as Crossfit is, and only claims to be, general.

It isn't unusual for someone to try Crossfit and report a noticeable training effect from it. This should be obvious, as new stimuli will always create an adaptation. For someone who has had only a narrow and specific training stimulus for a long period, this phenomena can be very exciting and enjoyable. Its also possible that they may in some cases develop a flow back benefit that they were not able or aware of previously. For example; a PL lifter with historically poor flexibility may be introduced to overhead squatting for the first time, like it, enjoy it, work at it for a while, and receive a useful carry over back into his PL lifting if that is what he/she chooses to do.

In cases like this however..... a sportsperson or recreational athlete gaining a training effect from a related but differentiated exercise selection, the question has to be asked what their training was like beforehand. More importantly, when training benefits from varied conditioning occurs, one really has to ask why they weren't able to gain this effect beforehand.

An athlete should not be able to 'Crossfit' their way to a better sporting performance unless the sport is itself Crossfit. An athlete wants the deepest narrowist fitness possible for their sporting event, not broad and inclusive.

There can be no doubt that barbell lifting has become more popular because of Crossfit and that has importantly made equipment accessible to more people, as well as a market to train people who are looking for skill attainment in some of the more complex skills.

i dont mind xfit, but to pay that much money to get fit? there are plenty of ways to get fit for free... go to park, do some pull ups, sprint, jump rope, barbell complexes. so fuck off xfit
