Hi all,

I am looking at getting the following from Gym direct. What are your thoughts on the products and also prices etc. Thoughts on bar?

I already have a powertec multi leverage system (I know not the ideal choice, but started with it) with 180kg plates etc.

Thanks

Package deal number 7 HPRSP commercial power rack $1950
Upgrade to thrust bearing bar 600kg +$40
Add an Olympic curl bar +$65
Add a dip attachment + $65
Add 2 x 1.25kg rubber weights +$7
10 to 40kg Rubber hex dumbbells (10 pair) _$1350
2 tier dumbbell rack to suit without saddles_$300
2. Total $3777, will do $3600 considering you are ausbb
3. Commercial power rack will be available for pick up or delivery around late Feb, pre-order has been started 1 week ago, limited stock. if you are happy with the quote, please advise so we can assign the stock for you. It is ok that if you want pick up everything else first

it is what it is...

although if i was spending that much i'd get an Assault rack from Iron Edge and some standard adjustable dumbells. cheaper, better quality and would take up less space

2.5kg up to 25kg then 5kg increments.

I have heaps of space which is why I like the look of these and also sick of changing spinlocks.

I will take a look at the assault rack, thanks

i think you will really want the dumbbells between 25 and 40 to go up in 2.5 increments. 5kg a side is a big jump ... just a thought...

thats what I thought also, but can add them when needed. Maybe I should stick to the spinlocks, or even look at another set?

If you are purchasing the commercial rubber dumbbells from gym direct, I can only say that I have them and they are great. They are however expensive so I guess just be aware that you may not have everything you want for the money you spend.

It doesn't look like bad value for the gear that you've ordered. Dumbells are bloody expensive and the rubber ones are going to be worse again but they do come in handy.

I would leave the increments as they are with the dumbells. In my opinion 5kg isn't a big jump on bigger movements where you will be using the heavier bells. If you need to go up on inclines from 35kg then you are capable of doing a few at 40 no worries. 5kg is a big jump on something like lateral raises where you will be using lighter weights.
