Are lentils safe to eat raw and soaked not sprouted?

Are lentils safe to eat raw and soaked not sprouted?

Im not sure if some stuff is safe to eat soaked not sprouted. I like the taste of them and they seem easy to prepare.

What I want to do is soak them over night then rinse them then eat them :-)

Cooked lentils taste funky but they taste good raw for some reason.

I know some beans are poisonous raw so not sure and couldnt find any info on the net.
