Missed a session on Sunday, have been feeling drained and thought it would be for the best.
After 195 x 5 feeling fairly easy last week I would have thought I could smash 200 x 5, I have been thinking about this 1 set for a few days now and was keen to get home from first portion of work to smash it. Didnt quite go how I planned, first 3 reps were ok, then grip slipped on my smooth cheap BB and it was all over  Cranked out the remaining 2 reps after a minute or so. Will smash it next week!!!

Well done! Look forward to reading "200kg x 5 - piss easy" next entry! ;)

Guys, I get eczema and exercise-induce asthma too. I've had both really bad, the skin thing all my life.
i have it fairly under control now although some break outs this year.
But I don't take any pills for it. Cortisone just makes you bloat for sure, and you shouldn't take it long term.

I worked on figuring out the root cause for the rash break outs so avoid foods and clothing (wool is a no no against my skin as are synthetics) that trigger it. stress is also a factor. I use rosehip oil to calm the redness. Seems to help.
For the asthma, I use symbicort.

hope you can get off the pills ... that stuff is horrible.

Despite all that, great going on the workouts of late, Grippy!!!

Thanks ccm. Haven't had those nasty pills for months and told the doc to never suggest them again.. Was pretty much a heavy and fairly short run but it sucked and bloated me up fast. Have seretide for the asthma now and all is good.

good to hear it's much better. that stuff is horrible. I found I had the asthma only 2 years ago. found out during a run outside. collapsed against a fence after only a few blocks. Allergies truly suck and they're so unpredictable.
my doctor's joke is that my family seems to have everything barring anaphylaxis. I hope we never do!

Damn Chilli, tis weird to not really have it as a kid and then bam, just cop it.

Was pouring with rain yesterday so missed out on sled drags, not keen on creating a trench in the backyard with the sled so did some shoulder stuff, pullovers (thanks Fadi), pushups and a barbell complex thingo consisting of rows, squats, snatches (probably looked nothing like proper ones) and OH presses.

Squats today, woo hoo!!

haha whenever you think you're shit at bench ... remember that some of us couldn't bench if a gun were pointed at our heads and our lives depended on it! Feel good that you're benching OK :D

congrats on the 170kg rep PB!

That's almost 4 of me ... ay carumba.

Re the eczema, yep, same goes for my asthma. Skipping happily along thinking all I had was rashes, hayfever, sinusitis and a few food/contact allergies. then bam.

could be worse. there's always an upside. there are worse things we could have for sure.

try rosehip oil massaged into the eczema and rosewater spray. I know it sounds girly but it's anti bacterial and it cools and soothes the heat and rash and itching a bit.

Thanks for the kind words Viv.

Notes on today: have been playing around with grip width on bench and found slightly wider than I am used to is much more comfortable, however I tried having the bar in a different part of my palm today to stay tighter and I must say by slightly rotating my hands inwards bench felt much better and tighter, wrists felt weird though, so will probably take a while to get used to.
Squats are shooting along ok, first 3 reps of 170 came up easy today, then on the 4th the bar slipped down my back a bit, but I wasn't about to let that stop me so quickly cranked out the last rep holding on for dear life, then it slipped a little more and I had to squat back down to the safetys which I keep set very low so they don't get in the way
