Footy socks or HTFU
learn to do them with the proper technique, or use a shin pad of some description like footy socks etc. If you can perfect your technique it wont be a problem, that said, I know what you mean, as I am still learning the correct technique and have skin off my knee lol.
I vote harden up, same as I would say to someone wanting to use gloves or a squat pad.
Proper technique is bar touching the shins.

Does anybody have any advice on how to prevent the shins from grazing when doing deadilfts? I try to keep it as close to my shins without grazing them but sometimes I graze them. Some friends have suggested footy socks. Does anyone have any other suggestions from preventing this from occurring?
I would not use the word "prevent" here. Because to prevent grazing is to prevent having the bar been as close as possible to your body. What I would say though would be this: preventing shins from bleeding or being cut or the like. And for that, follow my suggestion above with the tape over your shins.Preventing grazed shins
