Splits, frequency and training level/stage

Routines are just routines, experiment and find out what works best for you, if you just follow "routines" you will never be happy with where you are in your training.

Its simple - train for your goal from the outset - of course try different methods of training etc but there is no reason to go on X plan when your starting out, X plan when your getting more into it and then X plan when your "advanced".

Train towards your goal, train hard, be intense and make every workout count towards knocking down another hurdle towards reaching your goal.

Training intensity is by far more important than training frequency - you will have guys in the gym that are training chest (for example) - 2-3 times a week but fluff and fuck around everytime they are in the gym, talking to their mates between sets, not training heavy enough etc etc - where if they focused, put some intensity into their training they could blast chest in 20-30 mins and not need to do it again for another 5-7 days....

Intensity over frequency any day of the week for me - its all well and good going to the gym 5-6-7 times a week but if your fucking around then your not going to get anywhere fast....

If you are fucking around no matter what you do you are going to go nowhere fast.

They are all important. You can be intense and focused as you want but train once or twice a month and it is a waste as well.

Also, fuck I hate the bodybuilder definition of intensity.
