Does a newbie need supps?

Pure creatine monohydrate, but only if you want it. It is cheap though.
Pure whey protein powder is convenient, but not strictly speaking essential.
You could take fish oil. Or you could just eat fish 2-3 times a week or more.

Eat lots of veges, and some fruit. Or if you must, go for some kind of multi++, with some of the goodies found in said foods. Might work...
If you eat a ton of protein in food form, you don't need whey either.

Bulk Nutrients are good, as are a few other companies. Take your pick.

Briefly: If you are new at this game and want to try a protein supplement, great.

Don’t jump out there expecting miracles though.

Protein supplements are wonderful things — but only as a supplement to your “already good” diet.

Is whey protein better than milk and egg???

Give it a shot and find out for yourself, like weight training, we all respond differently.

My own opinion is that milk and powdered milk are the place to start.

Once you graduate to commercial powders, get familiar with a brand for a while, then change and see if it works any better.

If you are advanced, you may really notice a big difference from a better formula of protein.

If you are new, calories and milk may do the job better than anything else.

There are literally thousands of ways to consume adequate protein.

Just something to keep in mind kunce.

Protein is protein. Protein powder is not going to do anything different than protein from food.

There is going to be no difference in wpi or wpc powders between companies( as long as they are putting in what they say they are). All the companies buy their wpi or wpc from pretty much the same source anyway and just make their own slight flavor variations.

Never managed to find a protein powder that doesn't taste like arse. Nothing wrong with powders but I'm not using them any more just because I would rather eat food.

Protein from food will supply different micro nutrients to that of whey. If all you care about is macros then who cares.

Whey is a food.

All different foods contain different micro nutrients.

That's why its best to have a varied diet but still not a specific reason why you have to have whey powder.
