Hi,
As a veggie myself are there any other veggies/vegans in here, how do you get enough protein to gain muscle?

I'm about 80kg so that means I need almost 180g a day 😳 if you go by so these calculators/recommendations

Thanks

They are not "so called" recommendations, they came about from scientific study.

Ive read that often vegos/vegans actually need More than the typically required amount due to a lower bioavailability of the proteins. You also need to ensure a good variety of protein from different sources is consumed also to help cover all the amino acid bases.

80kg and 180gm is probably a good place to start to be honest.

Being vego, you still consume Eggs yes? They are your best friend. Cant beat them for a protein source in the vegetarian world. Also there are plenty of vego/vegan protein supps on the market now too, not sure just how complete they are, but they are there.

Unfortunately I don't like eggs, I've never liked them even when I was a meat eater.

The only time I can eat them is when they are baked in something like a cake or quiche etc etc

I've got some pea protein powder, looks like I'll have to have at least 2 of them a day

Yeah I still eat cheese but try to avoid dairy milk if I can, I have had whey protein in the past and when I was having 2 a day it made me rather windy to say the least.......

So have one a day. And learn to like eggs mate. Find a way. Omelettes, hard boiled covered in salt, fried with a heap of spices poured on. Try em all!

If you're concerned about getting all your necessary amino acids, do some research into complementary protein sources. This can mean eating your beans or lentils with rice to cover all the amino acids. But yes, bioavailability of proteins from vegetable sources are lower than animal sources. But it can be done.

Yes it can be done by eating a variety.

Beef
Chicken
Pork
Lamb
Fish
Turkey
Roo
Venison
Buffalo

Easy to obtain aminos.
