How is your hand spacing for these exercises:
BB row
Bench press
MIlitary press (standing)
For me, the widest is bench press, then about 4-5 inch narrower either side (jus outside shoulder width) row & military press
Gidday crew....
I am doing the starting strength 3x5 program....
Have never squatted before... so I started with an empty bar and currently follow Mark Rippetoes methodology for form... It still needs work... but let me just say that Squatting is AWESOME!!!!! Squatting is now a labor of...
I really want to increase my grip, when doing deadlifts I find it hard to keep a hold of the bar itself (the weight is fine). I use gloves and that makes so real diff IMO, guess I could try those straps but I'd probably look like a bit of a tool using them seeing as I don't lift that much as...
Was at PTC Franga today with a few others, and we started talking about different ways you can grip the bar.
With 120kg I tried (pulling conventional) clean grip, hook grip, then mixed grip but with alternating hands (if that makes sense).
Now, normally I pull with my left hand supinated, and...
Hey guys, just been tossing up with my bench press lately, is the wider grip more effective to the pecs?
because i think ive been having more of a closer grip all the time and i think thats why ive been struggling to build pecs is because i dont have a wide grip?

I get to the 5th or 6th rep on my 2nd and third set and have to stop because of my grip. This exercise is really trashing my arms, forearms in particular.
I am doing one hand over and one hand under.

“How much do you lift?” echoes the ever-present question around the gym. There’s no need to specify the movement, of course. Everyone knows what it is. The lift is the bench...
Thinking about making my own power rack, been investigating quite a bit and i love the multi grip bars that a lot of racks have...

Hi all,
Ive noticed that when I grip BB and DB for the various presses and lifts i do i only seem to be using part of my hand for the majority of the lift. So from my pinky finger to my rude finger i get calluses but get none on my pointer finger or thumb. So when I push or pull it seems those...
I've always used a grip width on the BP that is a thumb's width away from the smooth part of the bar. I thought that's a normal grip, and a close grip is right up the edge of the smooth, but I've seen references to my grip being a close grip.
Obviously I've seen many people with much wider...
Does anyone have a cure for grip when doing SLDL's.
10:30am today 3x8 80kg

Lats my weak point, I have an easier time building my calfes than the lats. The problem is with cable pressdowns light weight doesn't work and heavie works more my arms to the point that I do very little reps and dont pull the bar all the way back.

hey I really like this exercise, except when I lower it down to put it back on the rack of the bench press, it really puts my arms in a bad position and I get a bad twinge in my triceps. Any idea how to avoid this?
Should I just do skull crushers instead? I do dips and those behind your head...
I was listening in on PT and her student that were doing incline bench presses just near me the other day at the gym. I overheard her tell this young guy "never curl your thumbs around the bar". Why is this? I was going to ask her at the time but I didn't think it was very appropriate for me...
what effect on the pec muscles does a normal grip (palms facing away) dumbbell bench press compared to that of a hammer grip (palms facing in) offer in dumbbell bench presses?
does the hammer grip minimize shoulder involvement ?
Thank
