steveP; is gonna compete.
Does that make him an actual bodybuilder? ?

Doubt it, I just go to the gym to kill time.

Like in an earlier post, if you train for something, then you're doing that activity. You can go hunting or play footy without actually being a competitive hunter or football player.

A bodybuilder could compete in both bodybuilding and powerlifting, making him also a powerlifter.

Have not read the entire thread, but personally I believe unless you step out on stage greased up in a G string you can't call yourself a body builder.

You are simply a bloke training with weights.

If you hunt then you are a hunter, some hunters may be more successful that others, if you go to the range and shoot guns but don't go out and hunt then you are a shooter. I used to go hunting with a rifle and kill (shoot) animals, some of which we ate, that makes me a hunter at the time, I have not hunted for around 6 years though and somewhat lost interest in hunting, but still enjoy the occasional shoot at a range.

To be a body builder or call yourself a body builder I believe you need to compete in bodybuilding, otherwise you are just a bloke training with weights (like myself), I been lifting weights since I was in year 10 at high school and I am nearly 50 now, never called or considered myself a body builder, as a matter of fact every time someone (friends/family/workmates etc) referred to what I do as body building I will correct them and say I am weight training.

Most people who train football will play in a game at what ever level it might be at some stage, so they may or may not refer to themselves as a foot ball player, but personally unless you been on stage you are not a body builder IMO.

Weight training or stength training. Big boy Mick is 100% on the money (on fire today big fella!).

Playing footy with bunch of mates at the corner club does not make you a footballer, you're just playing footy

Rooting your wife or girlfriiend on a Saturday night does not make you a porn star, you're just a horny drunk

Dont know what your referring to about just playing at the corner club. Probably shows a lack of knowledge about the topic. Around here you won't be playing a game unless training with it staring in preseason November/December. Most people are payed to play as well. I'm sure getting payed to play classes you as a footy player

Much more than any nob calling themselves a bodybuilder who has never even trained for bodybuilding let alone competed in bodybuilding.

I don't think my comment was worthy of a serious reply Bazza, especially when you consider it in the context of my other comments
But whatever, you're a farmer not a footballer
