Reading that link posted previously, Tim 'sharky' Ward said the U.N. recognizes death by firing squad as a form of torture because it takes up to 15 minutes to die. Reading another news report, the procedure is that if they are not dead after the initial firing squad shooting, the person in charge walks up with a handgun and puts a bullet through their brains.

So you're tied there, three bullets in your chest, some bloke walks up puts a gun to your head and blows your brains out.

To be honest I have never understood why they go to so much effort - I know its harsh but a bullet to the head is quicker/cheaper way of producing the same outcome...

That state in the U.S. has reverted back to the Gas Chamber because of too many botched injections - kunce writhing in agony as it takes up to 45 minutes to die.
