I'm not sure what good those spotters think they can do
Hahaha, exactly my thoughts when I saw and learnt of the weight on that bar Darko. That's 225kg a piece if they were stupid enough as to even lay a finger on that weight in the hope of lifting it :D!

A tad high
Agree, but it sure does wonders for your confidence especially when it's done under a training type of a setting. Bit more adrenaline pumping/rushing through his system in contest condition and he'd really dominate it physically, (as he has already owned it from a psychological point of view).

He didn't need spotters. He was using a monolift with safety chains. This is what I said was needed in IPF comps back in that other thread on IPF spotters at world's in texas. With safety chains, spotters would just be there to help the lifter, if needed, get out from under the suspended bar.

Yes, its a shallow squat (but perfectly good if you are setting a "world record" at a Westside comp. Cough.) but it's in a training session. He will be punching it out of the hole come next comp.

450kg raw, drug tested, to depth, sleeves and belt only coming up next year.

I hope people realise that "drug tested" does not mean or automatically equates with "drug free". Drug tested is just that, drug tested. Even throwing in the word "random" before "drug testing" still doesn't make it drug free. When god is money, and business is a money making machine, you don't go shooting your messengers, especially the ones who connect you and make you one with your god. Having said that, people are entitled to having their opinion, and to believing whatever makes them sleep better.

No one said "drug free". In powerlifting, that does not exist. Never has. Never will be. You can take prohibited drugs if you have a medical reason for doing so, including testosterone.

https://www.asada.gov.au/therapeutic-use-exemption

Some drugs you will never get a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for, such as drugs that have not been approved for human use. That was the main sticking point (pun intended) with the Essendon drug saga. The drugs administered (peptides, if I remember rightly) were not cleared for human use. In fact, no one ever got caught with their pants down (snicker) so testing did not work or was a non factor in that particular balls-up.

Same applies to the Olympic games. They are not drug free. They are drug tested. If they find a substance that is not cleared for human use or is not part of an athletes TUE, then they get a botty spank and have to hand back their medals. Unless they are from the US. Ooooops. Did I just say that out loud?

I am assuming that now some may have a TUE for medical marijuana, where that is legal, but don't quote me on that. I also assume that some also have permission to use testosterone and oestrogen, or, in the case of Caster Semenya, suppression drugs.

All this sabotage by innuendo is just retarded. I know for certain, and it's pretty obvious, that Ray Williams is regularly drug tested. You don't get on stage in an IPF world championship event, win the men's open and set a number of world records without getting tested.

To cast aspersions against a world class athlete without any evidence to the contrary is scandalous and scurrilous. One can only wonder at the motivations of one who trolls a person's reputation. Mebbe a guilty conscience?

Did I just read the word "evidence"! Double standards at play yet again...

For any child reading these words, I repeat,:drug tested does not mean drug free....incidently, it does not mean a drug taker either, so the door is left wide open for a myriad of possibilities.

And this is what really pisses me off. You insist on casting innuendo. Throw enough shit and some will stick. While you are very careful not to make a black and white statement (which says much about your lack of gumption), the fact that you throw in scurrilous insinuations reveals much.

Again, no one said it was drug free. I never said it was drug free. No one on this thread said it was drug free. No one in their right mind would think ANY endeavour is drug free. Powerlifting is not drug free. The olympics are not drug free. Bodybuilding is not drug free. Lawn bowls is not drug free. But all of those, in WADA aligned federations, are drug tested, which is the term I used.

Do you use aspirin? Then you are not drug free. Do you drink green tea? Again, not drug free.

Are you drug tested? Most probably not. Does it matter? No, because you don't compete and are not involved (as far as I know) in competitive sports.

This thread was started to highlight an awesome personal achievement by the current powerlifting world record holder (in the squat and total). You jump in and drag up an insidious and scurrilous insinuation that Ray Williams is a drug cheat. Also, somehow you insinuate that he is "on the take" with big business throwing money at him to succeed. Somehow, I don't think an SBD sponsorship is going to get you on the rich list.

As the snake said to Eve, "Is it really so.....?" He did not make blatant statements. He just slithered in some doubt. That, my serpentine poster, is not the actions of an honest man.

fantastic squat from the drug tested fellow.

I remember seeing his 410kg in 2014 pacific invitational, such a fantastic powerlifter

Don't tell me what I imply what you infer, there's a difference. What I imply is what I intend, what you infer is what you reason.

Yeah, he has this habit of puffing air into his gut between the squat command and initiating decent.

Despite his gut, he is pretty low in body fat as well. Not bodybuilder lean, but there is no fat on his shoulders and you can see a bit of quad shape as well. Nice guy too.

Speaking of TUE's, a hacker group have breached the WADA database and have posted TUE's of a number of athletes. It's a bit of a beat up as TUE's are part of the system of doping control, as mentioned in an earlier post, but as has happened in this thread, someone wants to throw shit and some of it will stick somewhere, to the detriment of the athlete who has followed the rules.

http://edition.cnn.com/2016/09/14/sport/therapeutic-use-exemptions-explainer/index.html

You can use The Google to find the hacker's website and the original documents (at least they say they are original and WADA has not disputed that).
