Hello all,

I'm assisting my gym in selecting new pieces of equipment for later this year.
We've already decided on a new powercage, plate loaded shoulder press and 45 degree leg press.

I'm trying to get us a specific standing calve raise machine. However the only one I can find from Matrix Australia is this:

http://au.matrixfitness.com/product/view/g3-s77-calf-press#

Does anyone have experience with a machine like this? Or what are your opinions on the effect compared to a standing calf raise machine?

NOTE: Our gym has to go with Matrix equipment at this point in time.

Thanks

It looks kind of similar to the one at my gym. I like it. You can use it with a straight leg or bent.

You can't have one, you need 2. One for standing or knees straight and one for bent knees (seted).

Do you tip toe on a big plate to get full stretch rom? I am using a smith machine at the moment for standing raises. Less balancing issues lol

I made a small platform up that is slightly angled and made some modified "J-hooks" that allows the bar to slightly glide along High density plastic guides. So you still have to concentrate on your balance. The way I angled the platform and designed the j-hooks does help with this tho. Here is a short video and some pics.

Here is the modified J-hooks that the bar can glide along as well. I actually don't use standard j-hooks anymore but use these as it gives you more of a landing to crash and rack the bar. Plus you can move the pins and the complete attachment for multiple adjustments.

This is the Stainless Steel platform I made. Slightly angled and nice and low to the ground, very stable and strong:

@BrisVegasGhost; is Atomic Mass your custom equip brand?

At the time of that video it was just a name I came up with for the you tube clip! But having the 4 plus months off recently with my hand injury did leave me with a lot of spare time on my hands..um er hand. And there is still no guarantee I will get full feeling in the fingers so sometimes I am a bit clumsy still!

So with the time off I have designed 6 racks at this stage and have had full detailed assembly drawings completed. All the racks are 3mm thick, can choose from different styles of chin up bars, ring attachments etc. Lazer cut numbering up the sides (no stickers) Landmine attachments, dips, lat tower.....
Also have 4 different style benches that I have worked on......being adjustable, incline/decline flat etc. Solid equipment.

So Atomic Mass equipment is now in the pipeline. I am just looking at manufacturers in china to build to the quality, specs and standard I want. Have narrowed down to 1 manufacturer and will be making a trip before the end of the year to work with them on the production floor. Some parts of the equipment will be welded and powder coated here...like the one piece fully welded flat bench. Still a LOT of work to do.

Great work mate, funny how things come about and evolve isn't it!

Syd AND Melb hey, aren't they on consecutive days? Gonna' be a good week. Sugar me sweet!

Man those are sweet hooks indeed BrisVegasGhost;

We have moulded plastic step boxes for calve raises at my gym but they cave in when I use too much weight lmao. Stacking bumper plates is the only option gtg

If you start selling those attachments, I'll buy some for the gym just for this!
Looks awesome man!

Cheers @Puggy; , will keep you in the loop. These will eventually be available....slightly modified to what is in the pic.
I found it great....you can get the perfect balance by playing around and positioning the calf block so the bar is just touching the guides without to much friction. Plus its easy and safe to re-rack.
