How do you find squatting/deadlifting on the rubber mats, i'm currently torn as to whether i want them underfoot on my concrete floors or just under the weights (with slightly smaller plates)

I have rubber mats on carpet/cement and does the job fine. No sinking during squats. Might be different for heavier fellas or people who squat more than 100kgs ;)

I have the same mats, they are perfect when I get my new home gym will be doing the whole floor in them. They are not soft rubber.

I've actually got 10sqm of 15mm rubber from iron edge already, but i haven't had a rack yet or the indoor space to actually try squatting/deadlifting on them.. once i get my rack up @ over 200kg it might be hard to re-arrange the floor underneath it! :)

I think i'll go for rubber underfoot.

Unsure on a similar tack though about deadlifts, my options are

A) Force USA plates, 25kg are 450mm, stand on and lift plates off 15mm rubber

B) W8PL8 plates, 25kg are 430mm, stand on concrete, lift plates off 10mm rubber

Thoughts?
Tending towards the W8PL8 at the moment...

Hi Roger,

Great looking gym. I'm actually looking to get the same Rogue Rack and ABC bar.

Just wondering if you picked the Skinny/Fat bar for the rack or just the single skinny bar. Are you able to do pull ups and hanging leg raises (Fully extended) without touching the ground?

Does the spotter bars come with plastic to protect the knurling on your bar?

Cheers mate

Thanks mate!

I went the single skinny.

My roof height is 257cm, and the single skinny is currently 217cm off the ground (could bump it to 221cm I believe), I'm 179cm so just have full extension and clearance for pull ups and hanging raises.

The spotter bars do have plastic to protect the bar, as do the j hooks.

Cheers for the quick reply!

Looks like I'll have to do the same and go with the single skinny. Really would love to have the dual bars though..

Hows the rack for benching? The length of the spotter bars sufficient? Clean welds?

Just have to wait till the S2 comes back in stock :(

Plenty of room for benching, even with a wide grip. I don't know what that youtube review guy was talking about.

Spotter bars are fine ~ 20" is more than enough.

When I get a chance to take them i'll post some more pics or a video.

Great idea, I always struggle to load the bar up for dead lifts, about to do it again in about 30 minutes as it's Dead Lift day today:)

Mick just chuck small plate or a bit of timber - say 10mm thick - under the first plate you chuck on. Easy as.

Tim.
