Every now and again we see some skinny dude lift considerable weight.
Dr Squat nicknamed didley asked to be tested on an experimental (at the time) leg machine to test the static strength of the quads at certain angles to measure force.
at the time he held the record for the squat near 500kg...

Hi guys,

I am wondering how hard should I go first leg workout back, I can remember when I first started...

Some say don't fully contract the knee because it will fuck your knees up.

As writer Will Black discovered, you just need to reposition your leg.
The samurai would sit squarely on the seat, cross his leg so that his right ankle rested on his left knee (his left foot remained on the ground), place a hand on each knee, then straighten his back. Supposedly this aligns the...

After doing my 4 sets of squats, I do 3x10 on the incline leg press, but do the legs individually, not both at same time.
I don't see anyone else at the gym doing this, I feel I can train both legs equally as hard as each other, without one leg taking more load than the other.
Interested to...
Been using the leg press rather than squatting because I can actually do it without fucking my knees at the moment.
Feel it working my quads a lot more than squats which seem to work my arse and back mostly as well as killing my knees.
What rep and set ranges do the bodybuilding focused guys...

old school heavy duty horizontal leg press that takes standard weight plates up for trade for a Samson standing calf raise (if there is one out there)

I'm considering getting some sort of vertical leg press, I like the idea of more resistance compared to the traditional 45deg leg press.
Does anyone here use one, and what's your thoughts on it's effectiveness?
And just because....
G'day guys,
Just wanted to get some thoughts/feedback/ideas about the current exercises I do on my leg routine (which is apart of my fullbody workout) and amount of volume. Also thoughts on overall routine and specifics welcome.
I'll post some background info below to assist building...
Your worst exercises, the ones that give you grief, or you recieve nothing at all from them.
Chest
Back (upper)
Back (lower)
Shoulders
Thighs (quad)
Thighs (ham's)
Biceps
Triceps
Not really interested in theoretical discussion or what Ronnie/Jay do, I'd like to read people's personal experiences.
Which exercise best helped you to develop a particular muscle?
For example, "couldn't see any gains on chest/back/triceps until I started doing X".
I`m after a leg ext for the next item in my studio.
I have a pop-in attachment for my bench which I can do leg ext and leg curls with, but when it gets heavy it`s not smooth and I would rather have a standalone machine.
I have figured out my options are -
Pin loaded leg-exg/leg curl...
I'm looking at leg press options, I like the look of the powertec (4 bars to load weight, compact) but it's not linear bearing. The only 'cheap' linear bearing model appears to be the cyber fit... Has anybody tried these machines out (they are both in Sydney only or I'd just pop in a try...
