not mobility or injury related. and yes, a nice scenic fun run in the parklands is a grand thing.
I haven't been running since my fun run in August due to the asthma but that seems to have settled quite a bit so with the warmer weather, the odd run to just get out and about is like going for a walk, only better
Ive been trying to run lately but keep getting numbness/pains just where the front of my shin connects to my upper ankle, its almost pissing me off enough to see a physio.
I've gone from trying to do too much every day to running one day, walking most others, 1 or 2 bike rides, and good old hill sprints.
I think that's a good combo to knock some fat out of me.
I've been running around 10 to 15k a week lately. Love it.
Previously I had all sorts of problems with my IT band leading to runners knee. I found that using a foam roller and "the stick" has helped and I also started wearing nike free run 2's instead of the more cushioned asics I used to wear.
The free runs initially gave me too much road feedback, so my shins were a bit sore, but that passed.
I've also gone to a chiro who did adjustments on my back and hips, which seemed to help (although maybe that was a placebo effect).
Another hint is don't try to go all out and kill yourself on your first run back
I used to be able to go for 15km jogs, before work started taking over and I haven't been out for a good 8 months. What do you guys recommend in terms of a program that can get me started into running again? I realise going for too much too soon is an express ticket to injury city.

Thanks for the heads up, seems to be slowly getting better now since Ive reduced my runs to 2-3 times a week. Will get it checked out if it comes back.
Edit: been reading that creatine use can cause compartment syndrome in some people...intradesting seeing as Ive been using it for the last couple of months.
Lower body then a very deliberate 5k. Every step mind muscle connection. Was having Leg trouble everywhere doing Sprints, now being careful. Pushing around 113-115kg bw.
Running is my passion since my childhood. There is always a pleasure in testing the limits of my body and it always give a huge return than the effort you invest into it.

There is always an achievement after a long distance run. The body seems light and there is happiness in everything. The world seems more beautiful. Have any doubt? Just start running and you'll see it practically.
